I find it surprising that Ehrman would say that “anyone who believes the historical Jesus didn’t exist is an internet kook”.
Thanks. I am enjoying this debate and I see mistakes being made on both sides. What I see is a debate over methodology. It’s not surprising that you don’t believe Ehrman made the statement you quoted. I don’t either. As far as I know, that is not exactly what he said, and the exact words are important.
The argument is fun.
At the least, it will help everyone involved clarify and hone the methodology(ies) of historical studies.
And it’s just getting started.
